Denise Quarles, Esq.

Attorney, Arbitrator, Mediator

Denise Quarles began her legal career after traveling the world as a flight attendant and a career in advertising and marketing. After law school, Denise gained experience as an enforcement attorney at the New York Stock Exchange handling sales practice violation cases for fraud, unsuitability, negligence, among others. As a deputy attorney general for the Indiana Attorney General’s Office she handled health professional licensing issues and upon returning to New York Denise prosecuted physicians at the NYS Department of Health in the Office of Professional Medical Conduct. For 15 years in her own private practice, Denise defended health care professionals in disciplinary, licensing, malpractice and employment matters.

 

When it came time for a change, Denise chose Alternative Dispute Resolution and began arbitrating for FINRA, where issues include fraud, suitability, churning,
unauthorized trading, misrepresentation, negligence, breach of employment contract, compensation, failure to supervise and breach of fiduciary duty. Denise also mediates for the Federal Court for the Southern District of New York, where issues include employment, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour complaints, among others.

 

Denise continues to arbitrate securities law for FINRA and employment matters for SDNY as well as for private clients. For the last six years, Denise revised her law practice to include Trust & Estate litigation alongside her ADR practice.

 

Denise’s mediation and arbitration training includes Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation, American Arbitration Association, NYU Law School on Labor and Employment Disputes, and the EEOC on discrimination, among others.

 

Denise graduated from New York Law School and while there was active with the
International and Comparative Law Journal, Moot Court and the Federal Litigation Clinic. Her undergraduate experience was at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she received a B.A. in Journalism while working for the Capital Times Newspaper as a Reporter Intern. Denise has volunteered her legal services as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem and as an arbitrator for the New York Small Claims Court.
