Dr. Elizabeth A. Jenkins

Licensed Psychologist, Author, and Executive Coach

Dr. Jenkins is a licensed psychologist, author, and educator. She is a member of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and a board member of the non-profit Motivational Interviewing in Leadership and Organizations (MILO). Dr. Jenkins is the co-author of three books on Motivational Interviewing (MI), a guiding style of communication designed to facilitate the resolution of ambivalence and encourage change while maintaining positive, collaborative relationships.

As a courtesy assistant professor at the University of South Florida and a consultant for the Department of Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine Division at the University of Florida, Dr. Jenkins has provided continuing education and training for distressed and disruptive physicians and other health care professionals for over 15 years. She coaches individuals for workplace success by addressing specific goals such as anger management, promoting resilience, coping with burnout, and strengthening interpersonal and communication skills. 

Dr. Jenkins has been a clinician for the NFL’s Success without Substances Program since 2010. In addition, she has over 20 years of experience serving in the Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA), where she provided direct clinical care and communication and leadership training for clinical staff and administration.

Dr. Jenkins is an international speaker on the applications of Motivational Interviewing to leadership and conflict resolution. MI creates a roadmap for effective leadership and conflict resolution, providing the “how to” for skills such as collaborative goal setting, engaging employees, managing difficult conversations, and increasing employee buy-in, initiative, and follow-through.
